I’m set free by your communication Marga to embrace what I’ve subconsciously held as a somewhat selfish indulgence and instead hold it as an authentic expression of awe and love that also happens to be generous.
I love hearing this, thanks Catherine! The perspective that the more-than-human world is kin to us humans, re-orients the "I," doesn't it? Receiving and giving look different from this viewpoint.
What a wonderful invitation to engage life without the filter of thinking mind...to accept reality as it is and with our invitation of an open heart and mind to receive the love and wisdom flowing through all of life. Thank you for your timeless wisdom Marga! --Duane Elgin
I'm feeling it too, Marga. The visceral need to be in nature. I love conversations about wandering as they help me be much more clear about Wander as part of The Unwinding Compass. And your writing opens such a beautiful space for reflection and contemplation.
Wander is a point on the compass and when we wander into thinking, that loss of awareness, it's also where the possibility for connecting exists, when you approach it with playful discernment. Because wandering is such a playfully beautiful way of being, while wandering into thinking can lead to much suffering and despair. So within the wander is discernment - am I wandering with intention into the natural world and experiencing all the gifts waiting for me? Or am I wandering into past/future thinking and holding onto old patterns? On both sides of the wander coin there is opportunity for discovery and play. Wander is the seat of awareness itself.
This is beautiful, Jane. I like the metaphor of the wander as a coin with two sides – so true. I'm leaving your link here for anyone who comes across these comments and might be interested in your work: https://janeariebaldwin.com/
Beautiful Marga. You know how much I love a good conversation about wandering. The wandering womb, the wandering mind. This intentional wandering into awe and wonder is where it's at! Hearing your musings about wandering is so refreshing and grounding.
Thanks Jane. Next I'm wondering, what if we let language wander, what would that sound and feel like? Instead of keeping it all trussed up in boxes of correctness? Or maybe that's what music and poetry already is... language allowed to wander... I love, "wandering into wonder"...

Oooh I love this. Having just arrived in a place with so much natural beauty, this inspires me to get out and wander reverently!
