Tongues in Trees
Greetings, good people. In lieu of an essay on this full moon, I offer you a poem I wrote in 2011, that seems more alive to me now than ever.
Tongues in Trees
Rivers find their course in me
for I am the Earth
Love flowers through the dams
as tree roots
breaking up our hazy meter
that has made forgotten, our melody
When I meander purposefully, I remember my rhythms
and the drums of time beat
a song at my center
Nowhere is there a space
that I have not touched
for I am the Earth
When the smallest bird can no longer sing
an aching storm howls fire
through my stomach
As I calm my digestion
the smallest bird finds its voice again
and the condor takes note
The sun knows its integrity when I rise
for I am the Earth
Middle lands all belong, planets too
and the great Lights, to my field
within which I dance my days
There is a song you will remember
as your bare feet dance the riverbed
conducting the rising and setting of the Moon
For We are the Earth
The Moon becomes full at 6:15pm Eastern Time today, Thurs., Dec. 4, 2025, set against the backdrop of stars the ancient Seers of India called “Rohini.”
At this Full Moon our loyalties are highlighted. We will notice wherever our innocent loyalties have led us astray. Perhaps attitudes, circumstances, accomplishments, associations with others, or acquisitions that are not in your best interest are piling up around you. If so, it’s time to be courageous in setting a new course for yourself.
On the other hand, those loyalties that have helped you to cultivate peace, well-being, and contentment are also being highlighted and you can rejoice in them, pledging your ever deeper allegiance.
With the Sun and Mars set against a backdrop of stars the ancient Seers named “Jyeshtha,” valor is called for. We are summoning the courage to discern what is wholesome for us, and making decisions accordingly going forward.

Your poem written over two decades ago is so very relevant now. And your commentary is also spot on. Thank you!
You might want to consider recycling other writings also ahead of the time.
Oh, now that is a fun idea!
